1. What data we collect
Nearby Glasses Alert does not collect personal data that identifies you. The app works without creating an account, and no personal profile is created.
2. How BLE scanning works
The app scans nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) broadcasts to detect supported smart glasses signatures. If a BLE MAC address is used for local matching, it is transformed with one-way SHA-256 hashing and only the first 6 bytes are retained. The original MAC address is never stored or transmitted. BLE scan results are processed in memory only and never written to disk in identifiable form.
3. Remote rules update
The app uses the INTERNET permission only to fetch an updated detection rules JSON file from modex-page.pages.dev. Rules describe device signatures to improve detection quality. No user data is included in these requests, and no scan history is uploaded.
4. Data sharing
Modex Apps does not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties because the app does not collect personal data in the first place. No analytics or advertising SDKs are integrated.
5. Permissions explained
- BLUETOOTH_SCAN: Needed to scan nearby BLE signals for supported smart glasses.
- BLUETOOTH_CONNECT: Required by Android for Bluetooth operations and state handling.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Allows alerts when supported devices are detected.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Supports reliable background scanning when enabled by the user.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Lets the app restore scanning behavior after device reboot if configured.
- INTERNET: Used only to fetch rules updates; no personal or scan data is sent.
6. Children
This app is not directed to children under 13. COPPA is not applicable to intended use.
