The short answer
As of October 2026, the camera smart glasses on sale are Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), Oakley Meta (HSTN and Vanguard), Meta's own-brand Meta Glasses (launched June 2026) and the Meta Ray-Ban Display. Snap Specs and Samsung's Android XR glasses have been announced but, at the time of writing, have not shipped.
Most of them look like ordinary glasses, and most keep a Bluetooth radio active while worn. That radio is what a detector app listens for. It does not tell you whether a camera is recording.
Camera smart glasses, October 2026
| Model | Camera | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) | 12 MP, video up to 3K | On sale, from $379 |
| Oakley Meta HSTN | Camera (sport-styled frame) | On sale |
| Oakley Meta Vanguard | 12 MP ultrawide | On sale, $499 |
| Meta Glasses (Adventurer, Fury, Kylie) | Same 12 MP camera as Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, per reports | Launched 23 June 2026, from $299 |
| Meta Ray-Ban Display | Camera plus an in-lens display | On sale, launched at $799 |
| Snap Specs | Cameras for hand tracking and AI | Announced at AWE 2026 at $2,195, expected to ship in fall 2026 |
| Samsung Android XR glasses (Gentle Monster, Warby Parker) | Cameras on the frame, shutter button and privacy-mode toggle | Announced; launch reported for November 2026, price not announced |
Meta's lineup is the one most people will meet in public, because it is the one actually in circulation. The newer Meta Glasses share the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 hardware under Meta's own brand, so the camera is the same, only the frame name and price differ.
Which of these can you detect nearby?
Camera glasses stay paired to a phone, so they keep sending Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements. How that detection works is covered in our main guide. In practice:
- Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta are the core models Nearby Lens is built around, including on iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Snap Spectacles are also in its rule set.
- Newly launched models such as Meta Glasses, Snap Specs and Android XR glasses may broadcast different identifiers. Rules are updated over the air as new devices are confirmed, but nothing is guaranteed for a model that has just shipped.
Android users can run the same scan with the Android and Wear OS app, and our comparison of detector apps shows how the options differ.
What this list cannot tell you
- Whether a camera is recording. Seeing a camera model nearby is not proof of recording. See how to tell if smart glasses are recording for what the LED does and does not show.
- Hidden cameras. Nearby Lens only detects known camera glasses that broadcast Bluetooth. It does not find hidden or spy cameras.
- Ordinary glasses. Prescription and reading glasses have no radio, so no app can detect them.
- Bluetooth-off glasses. If the wearer turns Bluetooth off, there is nothing to scan.
- Models not yet shipped. Specs, release dates and prices for announced products can change before launch.
